Are you interested in creating an edible ecosystem based on perennial crops that thrive in the cold Nordic climate? This course will give you the necessary tools to start your own forest garden project.
During this 2 day course we mix forest gardening theory with a lot of practical work in an existing garden close to the course venue. Course contents include:
Forest gardening theory: ecology, establishment, management
Site criteria: finding the right spot for your forest garden (microclimate, water, access, …)
Plant knowledge: focus on woody edible perennials
The art of creating functioning polycultures
Site preparation
Planting techniques
Biodiversity and carbon capture and storage
Course schedule: The course starts on August 22 2020 at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. on August 23 2020. A detailed schedule will be sent to the participants well in advance of the course.
Course fee: The fee for this course is SEK 2600 (approx. EUR 250), which includes food and accomodation.
Food: Vegan breakfast, lunch, coffee and dinner are included in the course fee. Allergies? Please contact Henna well in advance of the course (see below).
Accomodation: Matresses are available at the course venue. You need to bring your own sheets, blankets and pillows. Camping is possible, too. Water toilets available, but no showers. There will be a sauna on Saturday evening. For other accomodations options, contact Henna (see below).
What to bring along: Sturdy boots, clothes for all types of weather and a spade if you have a spare one.
